Welcome to our blog! I hope to post regular updates here on special projects and happenings in room 22. The first week of school the second graders experienced creating self-portraits using pencil, sharpie, and tempera paint. The results were beautiful, and we've received many compliments from visitors. My inspiration for this process was borrowed from the award-winning art teacher Tricia Fuglestad. One thing I did differently to help management, was to only have five students paint at a time at a small group table, while I had the rest of the class work independently on a different activity. Our classroom doesn't have running water, and since we have 25 students, this just made management much smoother. Here are the results:
